According to Tigo, the network expansion and modernization is mandatory for provision of quality services.

Tigo Tanzania has announced plans to further expand their network. The mobile operator has made an investment of $70 million, over Sh150 billion in 2017. Last year the operator invested $75 million adding new 535 sites with 3G technology and upgraded 408 towers of 3G into 4G.

According to the company, expansion of 3G and 4G network will take place in both rural and urban areas. The telecom operator also announced the launch of its 4G LTE service to five more lake zone cities.

The expansions have resulted in subscriber growth for the telecom, by the end of March this year, Tigo Tanzania had 11.2 million subscribers.

"It's important to note that network improvement is done based on customer surveys, economic activities, penetration of data-enabled devices and feedback from other stakeholders like the regulator and the ministry responsible for communications," says Jerome Albou, Chief technology information officer, Tigo.
