On 18 September 2019, American video game publisher Activision, in collaboration with Chinese multinational company Tencent, has announced that Call of Duty: Mobile will launch on 1 October 2019 in countries around the world where Google Play and App Store are supported, with the exceptions of Vietnam and Mainland China. Call of Duty: Mobile, according to Activision, ” is the definitive, first-person action experience that for the first time ever delivers fan-favourite maps, modes, weapons and characters from across Call of Duty, including the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series, in one complete mobile package.” The game is developed by Tencent company Timi Studio and is published by Activision. The title will be free-to-play on both iOS and Android devices.

“We are delivering the definitive, first-person action experience on mobile with signature Call of Duty gameplay in the palms of your hands. We are bringing together some of the best the franchise has to offer, including Modern Warfare maps like Crash and Crossfire, Black Ops maps like Nuketown and Hijacked, and many more, into one epic title. We’ve tested the game extensively in select territories and the feedback we’ve received has helped us refine the experience for October 1,” said Chris Plummer, VP, Mobile at Activision.

According to Activision, Call of Duty: Mobile will launch with various multiplayer modes and Battle Royale. The company has also said that more modes and content, time-limited events and playlists will be added to the game at regular intervals. According to Activision, players will be able to partake in ‘fan-favourite’ modes such as Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy. Activision has also said that ‘iconic’ maps, such as Hijacked, Crash and Nuketown, will be featured in the game. Players will also be able to unlock ‘classic’ Call of Duty characters, including Simon “Ghost” Riley and John “Soap” MacTavish from the Modern Warfare series, and Alex Mason from the Black Ops series. The game will also feature scorestreaks, additional gear and weapons that players will be able to use to equip and customize their own load-outs.

The Battle Royale mode is, according to Activision, specifically built and tailored for Call of Duty: Mobile. Up to 100 players will have to fight for survival in a map specifically designed exclusively for the mobile game. The map will feature locations from across the Call of Duty franchise. Players will able to play alone in Solo, play with a partner is Duos or join Four-Person Teams. Players will have the ability to fight across land, air and sea with vehicles such as an ATV, tactical raft and helicopter. Players will have to find gear and weapons that also span the Call of Duty series.
