HONOR launches its new smartphone, the HONOR 8S in South Africa.

HONOR, international smartphone company, has announced the launch of its latest smartphone, the HONOR 8S. The phone will be available for purchase through Vodacom and retail partners from 19 July 2019 at the price of $144. At the moment the monthly cost for the smartphone will start at $11 per month. As HONOR makes the smartphone more available through more partners and retailers, more options in terms of cost will be made available.

The HONOR 8S will feature 2GB + 32GB memory, as well as a 13MP back camera with an F/1.8 aperture, a 5MP front camera with a fixed focus lens at F/2.2 aperture and a 5.71-inch dewdrop full-view display. The smartphone will come equipped with HONOR’s latest EMUI 9.0 OS on the Android 9. The phone will also come equipped with a 3020mAh battery capacity, which HONOR assures will last the entire day. The phone features a face unlock security system and other features that HONOR claims will make the phone attractive to the South African market.

HONOR, according to the Head of the company Raymond Liu, has risen in the South African market since the beginning of the company and is on track to position itself as 4th in terms of the smartphone segment in which the company works.

Although the tough external environment brought us some challenges, we managed the business continuity, and we will bring more products to the market soon, including high-end and budget-friendly phones. We are continuing to work with service providers and retailers to ensure that we provide greater coverage and availability to our customers. Furthermore, we are aiming to become a pioneer in the 5G space in South Africa and will be launching our first 5G smartphone in the country once the 5G network infrastructure is in place,” Head of HONOR Raymond Liu says.
