Curve Digital announced that it is bringing FuturLab’s hit shmup hybrid Velocity 2X and Perfectly Paranormal’s whimsical behavioural comedy Manual Samuel to Nintendo Switch this August.

Velocity 2X launched to rave reviews in 2014, where it debuted on PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4, before launching on Xbox One, PC, Mac and Linux the following year. Garnering a MetaCritic score of 90 on Vita and 86 on PlayStation 4, Velocity 2X won the hearts of critics and players alike, with its inventive blend of pulse-pounding 2D action platforming and fast-paced vertical-scrolling shmup action.

This will be the first time a Velocity title has appeared on a Nintendo platform. A direct successor to Velocity, Velocity 2X follows the story of Lt. Kai Tana, a brave pilot who has found herself stranded a long way from home after getting sucked through a black hole. Discovered and experimented on by an evil alien race called the Vokh, Kai Tana has recently escaped with her “Quarp Jet” and must outrun her captors.

“As big fans of both arcade shmups and action-platformers, Velocity 2X has always held a special place in our hearts,” said Cédrine Décoret, Product Manager. “Playing it on the Switch’s pristine, handheld screen, it feels better than ever.”

ManualSamuelLogoPerfectly Paranormal’s peculiar comedy Manual Samuel is also coming to Switch this summer, offering Nintendo players one of the wackiest titles to appear on the eShop yet! Following the exploits of an arrogant trust-fundee who makes a deal with Death following a fatal car accident, Samuel is given one last shot at life if he can make it through a single day having to manually manage even the most instinctive tasks.

Players will have to manually control Samuel’s walking, blinking, exhaling, and inhaling if they’re to guide this hilariously helpless human through an exciting day of getting dressed, drinking coffee, going to work, and navigating whatever hijinks ensue for a person incapable of peeing without the deepest of concentration and ninja-like reflexes.

Manual Samuel features multiple game modes, including a Time-Attack high-score challenge and a co-op mode, in which two players collaborate to guide Samuel through the day.

“Manual Samuel is such a humorous game, and the Switch’s portability makes it easier than ever to share its hilarious mishaps with friends,” said Jakub ”Koobs” Klitenik, Product Manager. “Clumsily controlling Sam with a friend is a riot, there’s nothing on the Switch quite like it!”
