Cisco Live, an annual customer and partner conference hosted by technology company Cisco, is currently taking place at the Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida from 10 - 14 June 2018.

During his Keynote speech, Chairman and CEO of Cisco, Officer Chuck Robbins, spoke about what the company has achieved over the years.
In October 2017 Cisco announced a partnership with Google Cloud in a bid to provide a well-supported path for customers who want to migrate to the cloud with help from open source technologies. The companies created an open cloud hybrid architecture. Robbins invited Google Cloud CEO, Diane Green on to the stage to discuss the hybrid cloud partnership.
“Our partnership created the opportunity for us to work with Google Cloud for us to deliver the same experience for our customers on premise. When you think about whether you choose to use their cloud for Kubernetes containers or use Cisco on-premise Kubernetes platform you will have the same experience," said Robbins.
“We believe that network has to play a significant role in helping to power multi-cloud environment that virtually all of you are going to be living in. This requires us to think completely differently about how we build networking technology and how we deploy technology”, added Robbins. “In the last year, 400 million people connected to the internet, think about the opportunity that has been created for those people."
According to Robbins, there have been 2.1 billion Machine-to-Machine connections and in the next five years there will be 7 billion connections, this increases the cybersecurity surface that we all have to deal with. “The threats are everywhere. This world that we have created; that we live and operate in every day is becoming incredibly complicated, said Robbins.
Robbins says it is clear that networks are going to power the future. “It is all about the networks of people, who do we connect with, how do we create more power from being connected, how do we create movements from being connected”, he said.
“We need to think about how data is moving across infrastructure and determine which data has value and how do I maximise that value”, he added. “In order to accommodate all of these new connections and enable everything that is possible in the future, our networks need to change.”
Robbins concluded his talk by emphasising the importance of security, saying: “Security has to be everywhere. If you think about the complex worlds that we’re all living in, security has to start foundationally in the network."
