Top 5 Nigerian job sites revealed as unemployment stats surface.
On Sunday 21 January 2018, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in Nigeria released its Labour Force Statistics Vol. 2: Employment by sector report in Abuja. The report revealed that 7.5 million Nigerians were left doing nothing between January 2016 and December 30, 2017, due to the hair-raising unemployment rate in the country.
According to the NBS, out of the country’s labour population of 85.1 million as reflected in the third quarter of 2017 (Q3), 77.55 million were engaged in some sort of economic activity for at least an hour a week, (8.46 million-1-19 hours; 18.02 million-20-39 hours; 51.06 million-above 40 hours), while 7.53 million are doing absolutely nothing.
These stats will be worrying for a country which has been in an unstable economic climate fueled by political instability and uncertainty.
