2018 began the same way as 2017 ended off, with a number of tech stories making headlines across the globe.
This past week the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 (CES 2018) took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The conference is one of the world's biggest consumer technology shows... so it is only natural that there were a number of stories that emerged from Las Vegas.
Apart from CES 2018, Samsung, this week, revealed that the company will be launching its latest flagship devices, the Galaxy S9 and S9+, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in February 2018.

Facebook announces widespread changes to news feed
On Thursday 11 January 2017, social media giants, Facebook, announced that it will be making significant changes to the platform by shifting users’ news feeds back toward posts from friends and family and away from businesses and media outlets. Read More.
Namibia: Internet and voice service disrupted
Internet and voice services have been disrupted in Namibia due to Copper cable theft that affected Telecom Namibia’s underground network in the southern part of Windhoek in the Cimbebasia suburb since late last week. According to the company, at least 500 to 800 business and residential customers have been affected by this latest incident. Read More.
Google launches data saving app in Nigeria
Google has launched a new app in Nigeria called Datally, which is aimed at giving Nigerians control over their data and maximise their data usage. The app will be free and will run on smartphones with an Android 5.0 Lollipop Operating System (OS) or any device with a higher OS. Read More.
Opera launches news app in Africa
Opera Software, has announced on Tuesday 09 January 2018 the official launch of Opera News, a new AI-powered app which enables people to access news articles and videos. The release of the new app follows Opera’s recent announcement that its AI-powered news service inside Opera Mini grew to more than 100 million active users in less than a year, showing an incredible interest in news globally.
