On 3 August 2016, South African residents went to the polls to cast their votes in the 2016 Municipal Elections.

According to the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) chairperson, Glen Mashinini, voting across South Africa went smoothly; however, security forces were deployed to areas experiencing protests and civil unrest.

With the polls closed and votes being tallied, the results are slowly, but surely pouring in. To keep South Africa residents up-to-date with the results of the 2016 municipal elections, IT News Africa has compiled a list of sources where results can be obtained.

The Independent Electoral Commission will be publishing live results on: www.elections.org.za. Results are additionally available from the eNCA Results Centre, here. To add to the sources, News24 currently has a live elections map up and running here. To keep track on your mobile phone, South African residents can download the official IEC App here to gain access to the results.
