Vodacom's new logo forms part of its rebranding.
Vodacom announced on Thursday 5 October 2017 that the company is rebranding and becoming a digital company, expanding from their traditional telco model. The repositioning of its brand is in line with Vodacom's parent company, Vodafone, global shift.
As a part of its rebranding Vodacom revealed its new logo, which now lends itself to 2D visualisation, and a new tag line: The future is now, Ready?
Speaking at a media event in Midrand, South Africa, Nyimpini Mabunda, Chief Officer: Consumer Business Unit at Vodacom, said: "We now see ourselves beyond telecoms and we are looking to connect everyone and everything in this digital world as a digital business."
Mabunda also revealed that the change is happening globally, across 34 countries, and that 5 markets where chosen to lead this shift, South Africa being one of them.
He also emphasised that the shift will open up new revenue streams and business opportunities for the company. While also pointing out that Vodacom wants to be at the forefront of the digital revolution in the country, this involves being a part of ventures such as driverless cars, drone deliveries and voice assistants such as Amazons Alexa. There will also be an increased focus on Internet of Things (IoT) and connection across South Africa.
"When all these new technologies hit South Africa be sure that Vodacom will be leading the charge," concluded Mabunda.
