The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset is set to officially launch on 6 October 2017 in South Africa at the upcoming 2017 rAge Expo - which will be held at the Ticketpro Dome between 6 - 8 October 2017. The headset is set to retail for R1799; however, does the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset offer a lot of bang for your buck?
For a mid-range headset, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset performs rather well especially for what it costs. The headset comes in two models, one which is aimed at PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro owners and one that is aimed at Xbox One and Xbox One S owners. The headset comes in blue for the PlayStation 4 version and green for the Xbox One version. Both versions of the headset are compatible with PC.
During the review period of the headset, I managed to play various titles such as FIFA 18, Cuphead, NBA 2K18, Marvel VS Capcom: Infinite, and Destiny 2. I also used the headset to watch movies via Blu-Ray and listen to music via YouTube.
When it comes to sound quality, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset delivers clear and detailed audio. Granted, when it comes to turning up the volume, the headset could have been a bit louder; however, this was not possible as the headset won't let you crank up the volume to the point of where you blow the speakers. While this felt a little restrictive at first, the more I used the headset the more I realised that, when on full blast, the headset pushed out just the right amount of volume.
While the volume levels produced by the 50mm over-ear speakers were slightly lower than expected, you can, however - at the click of a button - switch between various audio modes including: Bass Boost, Bass and Treble Boost, Vocal Boost, and Signature Sound. These options will allow you to choose the sound that is right for you while playing various different gaming titles.
In addition to the above-mentioned modes, the device also offers a mode called "Super Human Hearing." This mode, as revealed by Turtle Beach, offers players the ability to hear subtle yet game-changing sounds such the sound of footsteps sneaking up on your six, other players reloading their weapon for an ambush, and vehicles off in the distance approaching with reinforcements. Surprisingly, this feature actually worked rather well - especially when playing Crucible matches against fellow Guardians in Destiny 2.
Another feature that I found to be a fantastic addition to this headset was the ability to flip the mic up to mute it... as well as flip it down to unmute it. This allowed me to seamlessly mute my in-game chat if I needed some privacy while playing. In addition to this feature, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset comes standard with Mic Monitoring. This feature allows you to hear the volume of your own voice inside the headset to avoid shouting at teammates and other players. Additionally, it also allows you to keep an ear on what is happening around you, within your environment, without having to remove the headphones.
For those who wear glasses, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset is glasses friendly. This ultimately means that with prolonged use you won't begin to feel you glasses pushing up against your face, allowing for more comfort and extended gaming sessions. This is thanks to the latest version of Turtle Beach’s patented ProSpecs Glasses Relief System, which works rather well.
Speaking of extended gaming sessions, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset features an onboard rechargeable battery, which delivers up to 15-hours of gaming per charge. Additionally, the headset does not take too long to charge, which means more time gaming and less time charging.
When it comes to comfort, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset is probably one of the most comfortable headsets I have used. After utilising the headset for 6 hours +, I only felt a slight irritation around my ears. This allowed for longer gaming sessions and the ability to watch a movie without having to readjust the headset for comfort reasons.
Conclusion:
For the price, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset is well-worth its weight in gold. The headset is super comfortable and a pleasure to use. To add to this, it's extremely simple to setup up and can be done so by simply plugging in the wireless transmitter and switching on the headphones.
Overall, while not the loudest headset on the market, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Wireless Headset is a great addition to any gamers arsenal of gaming accessories.
