On Wednesday 27 September 2017 in Johannesburg South Africa, First National Bank (FNB) unveiled the next generation of their FNB-branded smartphones, the ConeXis A2 and the flagship ConeXis X2 - which will be available from 2 October 2017.
The bank took the opportunity to also announce its new data and voice packages, including the FNB Connect Ultimate Voice package as well as a ‘Double Your Data’ promotion deal on once-off data bundles.
The ConeXis X2
The ConeXis X2 is the next generation flagship branded device by FNB. The bank believes that the device offers a premium experience at an affordable price. The device will come with added features such as Virtual Reality (VR) capabilities. To add to the features, the box that the device comes in doubles up as a VR headset. The ConeXis X2 will be available for R199 a month and will come with 25 anytime minutes and 100MB of data. The device will be sim blocked to FNB Connect and only available on the bundle packages. The device will also come with an FNB Connect sim, a protective cover, and a screen protector.

The ConeXis A2
The A2 is the upgraded version of the entry-level A1. The device, as with the X2, will be sim blocked and only available on the bundle package. FNB has targeted the device at South Africa's lower income market as the firm believes that the A2 can help every South African access digital banking. The device will be available for R69 per month on FNB Connect and comes with 15 anytime minutes and 50MB of data. The A2 will also come with an FNB connect sim, a protective cover, screen protector and the box quite cleverly doubles up as a money box to help save that extra change.

Both the A2 and X2 will both come with a 12-month warranty while the gadgets included come covered by a 6-month warranty. The devices will also be subjected to FNB's rewards program, eBucks. According to the firm, eBucks users on level 3 will receive a 40% discount on each device... while level 4 users will receive a 60% discount. The firm added that users on level 5 could potentially get the device for free.
The FNB Connect Ultimate package, announced at the same time as the smartphones, allows subscribers to make calls to any network for R399 with 4 000 voice minutes.
FNB Connect subscribers will also enjoy a ‘Double Your Data’ offer for any once-off data bundle purchase for the ConeXis A2 or X2, respectively. Effectively this means for whatever data bundle that you buy FNB will double it. That data however only lasts for a maximum of 15 days.
The device will be available online and in FNB branches nationwide.
